Automation Technicianapply now

Programs, repairs and maintains all automated machinery and axillary equipment as directed by supervisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of:
        • All automated devices used for the purpose of runner removal, part handling, separation or packing.
        • All machinery located at the press or in the Assembly department used in secondary operation
        • All auxiliary equipment
  • Diagnose trouble, disassemble, and determine extent of repairs necessary.
  • Make up repair parts, replace defective components.
  • Perform necessary welding and sheet metal operations involved in repairing equipment.
  • Operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press and grinders as required.
  • Occasionally direct an assigned helper.
  • Maintain work area in neat and orderly manner
  • Observe safety rules and wearing of prescribed protective clothing or items.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 year technical degree in related field
  • 5 years of experience in related discipline required.
  • Mechanical comprehension as well as strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications and blueprints
  • Programming knowledge of PLC systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
  • Robotic experience as well as vision detection systems
  • Use of Computer Aided Design Software and strong general computer skills

Product Development Engineerapply now

The primary responsibility of the Product Development Engineer is to provide design assistance to Sales and the Customer. The objective is to provide designs to our customers that will meet their functional requirements and allow for a robust and reliable manufacturing process.  The Product Development Engineer will utilize his/her design skills to give Hoffer Plastics a competitive advantage in winning new business opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Utilize CAD skills and knowledge of the tool construction and the molding process to develop product designs that will meet the customer’s needs while minimizing design related manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Interface directly with the customer to ascertain all the essential information concerning part function and testing information that will affect the part design.
  • Be responsible for assigned duties involving the analysis of customer design inputs and requirements.
  • Manage product design and development for new or existing products.
  • Oversee design activities, determine the sequence of production operations, and determine equipment and tooling requirements.
  • Analyze production methods to ensure time and cost objectives are met.
  • Assist Sales in design related projects such as: prototyping new parts and providing design recommendations, analyzing metal to plastic conversion opportunities, identifying new opportunities through design change and piece part design development.
  • Identify sources for design, build and prototyping activities.
  • Perform mold simulation analysis utilizing Moldex 3D to enhance product design and assure a robust manufacturing process capable of producing parts at a zero-defect level.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, or completion of a related apprenticeship or a 2 year technical degree plus 5 years of related working experience.
  • 3-5 years of Product Development/Design related experience.
  • 3-5 years of plastic mold injection experience including understanding of various types and methods (Stack Molding, 2-Shot, insert molding, gas assist, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of tool design.
  • Good understanding of molding principles.
  • Strong computer skills in CAD (preferably SolidWorks), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with prototyping and the various forms.
  • Understanding of analytical tools including mold flow, cooling and warp simulation, FEA’s and the related software used to predict mold behavior.
  • Knowledge of DOE’s and statistical data collection.
  • Ability to perform difficult work on highly technical or involved projects, presenting new or constantly changing problems. Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex factors and ideas not easily evaluated and to make decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.
  • Overall understanding of numerous raw materials (PP, ABS, Acetel, Nylon)
  • Experience with high speed assembly equipment and part design related to assembly.
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude
  • Problem solving approach with ability to proactively approach issues.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma a plus.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Custodianapply now

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleaning washrooms, lunchrooms, office areas, outside areas, parking lots and sidewalks.
  • May operate compactor/baler as assigned.
  • Pick up, sort and weigh scrap.
  • Service air filters as needed.
  • Clean windows and fixtures, strip/wax or buff floors.
  • Perform yard work such as mowing, planting, weeding, or fertilizing.
  • Use equipment such as snow blowers, buffers, scrubbers, or sky jack.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to stand/walk the entire shift.
  • Must be able to work off of ladders.
  • English skills that allow for reading and comprehending labels/instructions.

Material Handlerapply now

This position is responsible for ensuring accuracy in maintaining adequate levels of raw materials in the molding plants and in moving finished goods into warehouse areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                       

  • Mixes resins, colors, and lubricants; maintains adequate material supplies by filling hoppers
  • Fills skids as needed and moves finished goods into warehouse by accurately completing inventory transactions
  • Cleans auxiliary equipment
  • Transports molds to and from storage areas and/or Tool Rooms
  • May assist with mold changes under direct supervision
  • Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures
  • Helps maintain 5S and cleanliness in the Plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks
  • May assume operator tasks as assigned
  • Understands the importance of reducing scrap and follows Plant management instructions  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds on a semi-regular basis

Set Up/Molding Technicianapply now

Current openings are on 2nd (4pm – 12am) and 3rd shift (12am-8am), Monday through Friday. Overtime is available on weekends depending on production demand. No experience is necessary. Extensive training programs are offered to give candidates the job skills needed. We are simply looking for motivated, enthusiastic people with a desire to learn and grow with our company.

Responsibilities

  • Set molds and perform set up changes and color changes to meet production demands
  • Follow molding process parameters to ensure part quality
  • Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects
  • Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime
  • Follow Lean initiatives to ensure cleanliness and productivity of the Plant
  • Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures
  • Participate in training initiatives designed to improve skill sets

Inspector Technicianapply now

Responsibilities

  • Makes boxes, moves raw material and finished goods as needed
  • Helps maintain cleanliness in the Plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks
  • Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures
  • Performs visual inspections on assigned presses and completes all required forms and documentation associated with production
  • Performs simple gauging on parts as assigned by the foreman using various measuring tools such as plug gages, and go / no go gages
  • Performs start-ups on all presses and is responsible for all blueprints, forms, etc. required
  • Performs required complex gauging on all presses using various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, plug gages, and fixtures

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Competent in inspection procedures and the use of measuring equipment applicable to the classification level
  • Must be able to successfully complete the “C” level Inspector Technician training program
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a semi-regular basis
  • Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift
  • Proficient in reading / writing English
